KONFERENCJA CULTURE – CITY – CHANGE
Zapraszamy na konferencję CULTURE – CITY – CHANGE, która odbędzie się w dniach 23–24 września 2022 r. w Warsztatach Kultury w Lublinie przy ulicy Grodzkiej 5a i 7. Spotkaniu będą towarzyszyć wystawy, warsztaty oraz koncerty. Wydarzenie ma na celu podsumowanie wkładu Warsztatów Kultury w Lublinie w międzynarodowy projekt trans-making realizowany w latach 2017–2022 w ramach unijnego programu Horyzont 2020.

Projekt trans-making zakładał zbudowanie wielostronnej sieci współpracy pomiędzy organizacjami z kilkunastu krajów oraz wymianę wiedzy i doświadczeń pomiędzy badaczami, naukowcami, artystami i animatorami działającymi m.in. w takich obszarach jak placemaking, kształtowanie przestrzeni publicznej, działania artystyczne związane z konkretnymi miejscami jako przestrzeniami do tworzenia alternatywnych narracji, namysł nad nowymi rozwiązaniami w kwestii rozwoju społecznego i gospodarczego czy związek sztuki i nowych technologii.
W lubelskim spotkaniu wezmą udział przedstawiciele naszych organizacji partnerskich z Francji, Hiszpanii, Egiptu, Chile i Turcji oraz uczestnicy projektu trans-making z ramienia Warsztatów Kultury w Lublinie. W trakcie spotkania podzielimy się wynikami naszych badań realizowanych w trakcie wyjazdów badawczych oraz refleksjami na temat problemów dzisiejszych miast i wpływu kultury na ich rozwój. Będziemy dyskutować o tym, jak zmieniać nasze miasta, aby stały się lepszymi miejscami do życia oraz jaką rolę w tych zmianach może i powinna pełnić kultura. Przyjrzymy się dobrym praktykom z różnych miejsc na świecie oraz podzielimy się lubelskimi doświadczeniami na tym polu. Spróbujemy zdefiniować wyzwania, jakie stoją przed nami na drodze do rozwoju Lublina i pełnego wykorzystania jego potencjału.
W obecnej sytuacji nie może także zabraknąć odniesień do wojny w Ukrainie. Jednym z głównych założeń projektu trans-making jest szukanie metod wzmacniania procesów demokratyzacji Europy, a wojna w jej środku, w XXI wieku, pokazuje jak ważne jest pielęgnowanie podstawowych wartości demokratycznych i dbanie o zrównoważony rozwój całej Europy.

W ramach konferencji uczestnicy będą mieli możliwość obejrzenia trzech niezwykłych wystaw oraz instalacji:
„Kultura–Miasto–Zmiana” to dokumentacja fotograficzna głównych obszarów badawczych realizowanych przez uczestników projektu trans-making oraz „Słownik ukrainizmów. Interpretują polscy i ukraińscy ilustratorzy” to artystyczno–edukacyjne przedsięwzięcie skupione wokół ukrainizmów, czyli słów funkcjonujących w języku polskim, a wywodzących się z języka ukraińskiego. Zobaczymy też instalację „Wykorzenione wspomnienia” autorstwa Charlotte Perrin i Andrésa Galaza, która nawiązuje do architektury Lublina oraz jego mieszkańców.

Art / culture / economy to democratize society. Research in placemaking for alternative narratives — trans-making”
Projekt badawczy, realizowany w latach 2017–2022 i finansowany ze środków Unii Europejskiej w ramach programu Horyzont 2020 – Działania Marie Curie Skłodowskiej, Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE). Warsztaty Kultury w Lublinie jako jeden z 23 partnerów projektu z różnych części świata biorą udział w działaniach badawczych i wymianie pracowników, szukając rozwiązań i odpowiedzi na wyzwania współczesnej Europy.
Przedmiotem badania i eksperymentu jest kształtowanie przestrzeni publicznej w taki sposób, aby aktywnie przyczyniać się do demokratyzacji i dobrobytu społeczeństwa. Kolejnym celem projektu jest wzmocnienie potencjału badawczego poprzez wymianę wiedzy między partnerami akademickimi i pozaakademickimi z Europy i spoza niej we wspólnym programie badawczym skupionym wokół 4 osi tematycznych: Gromadzenie/Dokumentowanie; Badanie/Eksperymentowanie; Działanie; Projektowanie. Efektem działań ma być umocnienie powiązań między sztuką a kulturą, gospodarką, demokracją i innowacjami na poziomie UE i poza nią. Projekt przyczyni się do lepszego zrozumienia i wymiany wiedzy między społecznością naukową, ludźmi kultury, lokalnymi społecznościami oraz przedstawicielami władz kształtującymi polityki na poziomie zarówno lokalnym, jak i globalnym. Dodatkowo partnerzy zawiążą długoterminowe współprace w celu stworzenia naukowej i innowacyjnej społeczności na całym świecie.

“CULTURE – CITY – CHANGE” is the name of the event summing up Workshops of Culture’s participation in the international project trans-making, carried out in the years 2017-2022 within the EU’s “Horizon 2020” funding programme for research and innovation. Exhibitions, workshops, and concerts will be held in conjunction with the conference, which is scheduled for September 23–24.

This two-day event consists of the conference (Friday, 23 September) and workshops (Saturday, 24 September) which require registration via online forms available at www.warsztatykultury.pl/en.

The project involved establishing a multilateral network of cooperation between organisations from different nations and an exchange of knowledge and experiences between researchers, academics, artists, and socio-cultural animators active in placemaking / place-based art activities as spaces to create alternative narratives. It also offered reflection on new solutions in the field of societal and economic development, or the connections between art and new technologies.
Representatives from our partner institutions from France, Spain, Egypt, Chile, and Turkey will attend the meeting in Lublin, together with participants of the trans-making project from Workshops of Culture in Lublin. At the event, we will share and discuss the findings of the research we conducted on research trips as well as our thoughts on issues facing modern cities and the impact of culture on urban development. We’ll talk about how to make cities better places to live as well as the role that culture can and should play in supporting these changes. We’ll look at the best practices from across the world and discuss our own experiences in Lublin. We shall make an effort to outline the challenges we are encountering as Lublin develops and reaches its full potential.
War in Ukraine is also a very important issue. One of the main tenets of the trans-making project is to find ways to strengthen European democratic processes. The war in the middle of Europe in the 21st century is a prime example of how crucial it is to foster fundamental democratic values and guarantee Europe’s long-term sustainability

Uprooted memories | 22–30 September, 10.00–17.00 (25 September – exhibition closed)
The installation consists of two parts. The first is inspired by Lublin’s Old Town and its architecture. The artists were profoundly affected by the marks history left on Lublin’s architecture, especially the buildings that were abandoned when Jews fled the city during World War II and remain vacant. The second part of the installation consists of a series of Charlotte Perrin’s illustrations depicting the residents of Lublin, entitled “The story of those who pass by”

The trans-making project aims to establish a multilateral network of research and innovation staff active in the fields of placemaking / place-based art activities as a space to create alternative narratives for societal and economic renewal. It investigates and experiments with placemaking to contribute actively to the democratization/well-being of society.
The objective is to strengthen research capacities, through exchange of knowledge and expertise between academic and non-academic partners from Europe and Third Countries in a shared research programme focused on: Collecting, Documenting / Exploring, Experimenting / Performing / Designing. Through this research programme, the consortium aims to encourage links between art and culture, economy, democracy and innovation at EU level and beyond.
The project fosters a better understanding and knowledge sharing between scientific community, stakeholders and policy-makers. Which will be achieved with the respective networks of the involved partners. The final aim of trans-making will be to establish a long term collaboration among the partners in order to have a scientific and innovative worldwide community.
